A Little Bio

On a personal note, I’m a Greenville native, who has lived in places from the UK to Chicago, permanently settling in the Upstate years ago.

Aside from what you see on my resume, I have fun with DIY, creating immersive parties, making up new recipes, and decorating cakes. I love making crafts with children, as a volunteer with my church and with the Girl Scouts. A great joy has been teaching countless children’s art classes. I’ve always got personal projects in the works.

My BA in English is from the University of Georgia Honors Program, where I took additional classes in journalism and worked as a newspaper reporter. I also completed a study abroad at Oxford University in the UK.

Following graduation, I entered the corporate world, while studying art on the side. My first painting class was at the Greenville County Museum of Art right after college graduation. While living in Charleston, I studied photography at the Gibbes Museum. Over time, I have studied with many great art teachers!

A New Chapter

Not long after my return to Greenville, I joined the team at Recall Secure Destruction Services (now Iron Mountain). When a layoff coincided with time to have my second child, my former husband and decided I should transition to a stay-at-home mom. During that time, I worked for Upstate Parent magazine as a freelance writer/photographer, documenting our family adventures and writing hard news, covering children’s medical issues. My other job was as a fine artist with an Etsy shop and as a painting teacher. These years were also a time of extensive volunteer work outlined on page 2 of my resume.

Life, of course, is change…

When my former husband and I chose to part ways, the chapter of staying home closed, and I embarked on the next phase of my career. Realizing my artistic ability was profitable, I enrolled at Greenville Tech and earned Certifications in Graphic Design in Web Design. Beyond my certification requirements, I took additional photography, drawing and painting classes to build my skills.

I was pleased to accept a position as Marketing Specialist with the Boggs family, helping with 5 businesses, including Palmetto Distillery. I stretched my creativity with 18 posts per week for their 5 companies. I learned about Facebook Meta, Google Analytics and continued developing in my graphics and writing skills. Sadly, my tenure ended after 8 months, following restructure of their business. I continued working a short time after being notified of the elimination of my job and parted on friendly terms.

Now on to the next adventure…
